Jai Alai Concerts Make A Comeback at Miamiβs JAM Arena Fronton
POLLSTAR β Wendy Pearl β Miami Jai-Alai Fronton β once the crown jewel of American jai alai β is back with a new league and a goal of bringing concerts and live events back to the fronton now known as JAM Arena. Jai alai, (pronounced hi-lie) originated in the Basque region of Spain and France. The modern professional version developed in the late 1800s and came to the U.S. in the early 1900s, flourishing in Florida and Connecticut. At its peak from the 1960 to the late β80s, jai alai frontons were major entertainment and gambling venues in the U.S. but the sport found its strongest foothold in the Sunshine State....
